SOUTH CAROLINA'S GRADING SCALE
In South Carolina, the SC Uniform Grading Policy establishes a weighted grading scale at the state level, which applies to all public schools. South Carolina recently changed its grading scale from a seven-point weighted grading scale to a ten-point weighted grading scale.

The new uniform grading scale and the system for calculating grade point averages (GPAs) and class rank will be effective for all students beginning in the 2016–17 school year.
The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship requires rank as a criterion. When using class rank as an eligibility criterion, the home school association is required to have a ranking policy compliant with the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy. PIE's transcript service is a requirement for this program. Weighted and unweighted grading scales are explained further in the Grading Scale section of Record-Keeping Insights.
